Marvelous in My Monday

Happy Monday folks!

We had such a marvelous weekend this past weekend!  My mother in-law and sister in-law came to stay with the Love Nugget Saturday so the hubby and I could get away for a night.

We are lucky to live within and hours drive from some of the best wines in california.  No, not Napa, not Sonoma… Amador County.  They make some really yummy wines up there and the people are always so friendly.  Evey year in October they put on an event called the Big Crush which includes over 35 wineries pouring bottled and future wines as well as serving up some tasty food to pair with their vino.  We’ve gone a handful of times to this particular event and always have a great time.  This year we booked a room at a hotel in a nearby town so we could enjoy the entire weekend without having to drive home.

We went to 5 wineries on Saturday enjoying delicious wine and food!

(Sorry for the horrible quality pictures.  I didn’t want to sport my DSLR this weekend)

Then we went and checked in at our hotel where we took a little nap.  Can’t remember the last time I did that!  Then we headed into the TINY town of Sutter Creek in search of some food.  We read a review online about a restaurant called Susan’s Place and decided to give it a try.

Unfortunately we were both a little disappointed with our meals.  I had salmon with grilled veggies over polenta with a basil garlic sauce and the hubby had meatballs with pasta and veggies.  Mine was okay, nothing to write home about and the hubby said about the same for his.  They did have some really good bread though which was a plus!

After dinner, we walked through the town which was pretty dead for a Saturday night.  We stopped into an old ice cream parlor and enjoyed some real ice cream.  Can’t remember the last time I’ve had ice cream let alone peanut butter cup ice cream.  It brought back memories from when I used to work in an ice cream parlor in high school 🙂

Sunday we slept in today until 7:15!  Wow!  That’s late for me!  Then we walked into town and went to a little coffee shop.  Again, pretty disappointed with the food.  They were out of soy milk, couldn’t make egg whites and their baked goods looked sub par.  I had a cup of coffee and a few bites of a turkey zucchini Quiche.  On our way back home, we stopped in the next town to taste at a winery there.  They happened to also be serving the BEST scones I’ve had in a long time.  The bakery also happened to be right next door.  We should have just gone there for breakfast.  Oh well, next time 🙂  We made one more stop at another winery where we met two sisters wearing the coolest wine cork shirts.

One of their husbands had made them all from wine corks.  Pretty neat!

Then we headed home to our Love Nugget.  Missed our little guy this weekend but it sure was nice to have some time to ourselves 🙂

This morning I woke up bright and early to do my fitmixer workout.  Something not so marvelous that’s been going on is the pain in my shoulder 😦  I’ve had issues with my right shoulder since high school volleyball.  I think being the outside hitter took its toll on my arm.  Lately it’s been bothering me more than usual with all the push-ups, wall stands etc. so the hubby taped me up with KT tape last night.

If you haven’t head of this stuff, you can check it out here.  You might have noticed Olympians this year with colorful tape all over their bodies.

That was KT Tape.  I’m not much of an expert on it but the hubby swears by it and so far it seems to do the trick.  Not sure how long I’ll be able to sport it though.

Off to take the Love Nugget and the White Coyote for a little walk.  It’s actually sort of chilly out and I’m looking forward to putting a sweatshirt on 🙂

Hope you have a Marvelous Monday!

  1. That is so hilarious that we went to the SAME winery this weekend!! We were there on Friday, though! Looks like you guys had a blast! And next time you’re in Sutter Creek, check out Pizza Plus- the best pizza I’ve ever had! I am seriously obsessed. 🙂
    Happy Monday!!

    • We heard that place was good but had pizza the night before so we didn’t want to over do it. Although now I wish we would have! I wish we had family that lived in that area. I don’t think I’d ever leave!

  2. I’m sorry to hear about the disappointing restaurants you two ate it. What a bummer! But with that aside, it sounds like y’all had such a great time.

I used to work at an ice cream shop in high school too, ha!
