Yesterday morning I woke up and headed to meet some friends for yoga in the vineyards at Don del Cielo.
We bought an adventure deal through Living Social and since I had done it the year before, I knew it would be fun!
Last year I did the Friday evening session and while it started off hot, we watched the sun set over the vineyards and enjoyed the cooling temperatures. This time we did the morning session and felt the heat as the temperatures continued to rise! Phew it got hot! It was still great but it was actually a pretty intense yoga class focusing mainly on balance and sweat! A lot of it! The view was beautiful though and there were lots of grapes ready to be picked! Harvest time!
It was very relaxing. Even more enjoyable, was the after yoga treat of wine and food.
The wine was delicious but the scones you see pictured here were to die for! We all ate one then went back for a second half. So good!
We stayed and chatted for quite a while so I got home much later than I had expected. It was pretty hot so the hubby and I took the Love Nugget to the mall to ride the carousel and do a little shopping. He loves that thing but it makes me so dizzy!
The hubby and I enjoyed a yummy dinner of brie and apple turkey burgers with mozzarella and heirloom tomato (from our garden!) salad and coconut lime corn. Really Yummy! Here’s a quick rundown of the burger recipe followed with the corn.
Brie Stuffed Apple Turkey Burgers
1 large grated Granny Smith Apple
2 tbsp chopped yellow onion
1 clove of garlic, chopped
1/4 cup bread crumbs
2 tbsp chopped fresh basil
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp pepper
1/2 lb lean ground turkey breast
Mix all ingredients in except brie in a medium bowl. Start with a large, thin burger patty. Top with a few slices of brie then cover with more of the burger mixture creating a larger patty. Continue with the remaining brie and burger mixture. It should make three large burgers or four smaller ones. Grill on a well heated grill until cooked well. Serve with a whole grain mustard and granny smith apple slices.
Grilled Coconut Lime Corn
3 – 4 fresh corn on the cob
2 tbsp coconut oil
1 tbsp chili powder
juice from 1/2 lime
salt and pepper
Husk corn and prepare foil squares to wrap corn. Brush coconut oil all around each cob. Squeeze lime juice over each cob as well then sprinkle chili powder, salt and pepper on. Wrap in foil then grill along with the burgers. I loved the slight flavor of the coconut oil, the sweetness of the corn with the citrus from the lime. So good!
We also watched 21 Jump Street which was actually pretty funny!
Today after the Love Nugget had a quick breakfast, we headed out for the morning. We made a quick pit stop by Starbucks for a Pumpkin Spice Latte and Pumpkin Bread for breakfast.
I was in a fall mood 🙂 Then we went to the farmers market in downtown Sacramento.
We got tons of great produce and enjoyed walking around sampling fresh fruits and veggies. After that we drove to Micheal David Winery to taste a little wine and pick up our wine shipment.
The wine club event was yesterday but we decided to go today when it would be a little less crowded. Such a good idea! After sampling a few wines, we went out to play a little. The Love Nugget always has such a fun time running around on the large grassy area and playing with the bean bags.
It was a gorgeous day too so we just hung out, snapped some pics and enjoyed the cool breeze 🙂
The hubby was taping his football game (in case you couldn’t tell from the above pics he’s a Detroit Lions fan) and was dying to get home to watch it so we headed home. I ran back out solo to pick up some groceries for the week at TJ’s. I start my Fitmixer Bootcamp tomorrow so my meal plan was emailed to me on Friday. I’m a little nervous about the amount of food and meals I’m supposed to be eating. Much more than my normal food intake but I’m going to try and see how it goes. It’s all healthy foods so I’m sure I’ll be okay.
Off to prep dinner and enjoy some relaxation!
QUESTION – Have you ever done a Living Social Adventure?
I always see super fun ones advertised for bigger cities like San Francisco and would love to do one somewhere else some day 🙂
