What the Nugget Ate Wednesday

Happy Wednesday!

We’ve had a MUCH better day today than yesterday.  I must apologize for my annoying complaining too.  In reality, he’s really not that bad when he’s teething and I realize that things could be a lot worse.

Since it’s Wednesday, I decided to link up Jenn over at Peas and Crayons for another fun WHAT I ATE WEDNESDAY.  This time though, since I’ve been super sporadic and lazy with my own meals, I decided to do a What the Nugget ate Wednesday post.

Peas and Crayons

The Love Nugget woke up around 7:00 this morning and enjoyed his milk on my lap while we watched a little bit of Sesame Street.

For breakfast he had more milk, an oatmeal smash with oats, chia seeds, yogurt, peanut butter, and agave, bananas, plums and an egg puff with parmesan cheese and ketchup.

He loves the oat smashes!

With the parmesan cheese added into his egg puff as well as the ketchup, he ate the whole thing!  He’s been really anti-egg lately.

After breakfast we went for a little run, 2 miles to a park to play then 2 miles back.  We both had a few cherries for a snack when we got back then he went down for a nap.

When he woke up a few hours later, it was time for lunch!  Today he had a cup of milk along with a veggie pattie, spinach and pea macaroni and cheese, some leftovers tempeh and veggies from our dinner last night as well as some sweet potato wedges.

As soon as he was done we rushed out the door to go run a few errands.  He finished his milk as we ran around then snacked no some dried pears at the grocery store.  When we got home, we both had some veggie snacks that were an impulse buy.

He liked them though so that works!

He was pretty tired this afternoon and I think that molar that he’s cutting was bothering him so he wasn’t really that interested in his food.  He had some more tempeh and quinoa, a cheese/spinach quesadilla, some sweet potato wedges and avocado.

After dinner, since his mouth was bothering him, he had a Green Popsicle (recipe to follow).

Green Popsicles

1 cup frozen Organic berries

1 banana

1 large handful of spinach

1/4 cup greek yogurt

1/2 cup milk

Blend all ingredients in a blender.

Then poor into a popsicle mold.

Or, if you don’t have a popsicle mold, you can use a muffin tin with popsicle sticks.  You’re kids will never know there’s spinach in there!  Plus, if you’ve got a fussy teether on your hands like I do, it’s very soothing for their little mouths 🙂

Question for the moms out there, what are your little ones eating these days?

The Love Nugget is a pretty good eater but prefers fruits over veggies.  I’d say one of his favorite foods right now is salmon and sweet potatoes.

What do you use that helps your little one when their teething?

My favorite go to is frozen yogurt drops which is just greek yogurt with a little agave, poured into a plastic bag, end snipped and dropped onto a parchment lined cookie sheet.

  1. Thanks for sharing these great food ideas! As my little guy gets started with more solids I’ll have to keep them in my back pocket! Those Popsicles are genius! 🙂

  2. I’m so glad that you shared your link in my comments! I love WIAW because it helps me to look outside the box in terms of what I eat. Sometimes I get into ruts and when I see what other people are eating, it takes me in a whole new direction. I think that the same is true with “kid food.” I hope that you continue to share “What the Nugget Ate!”

  3. LOVE the idea of green popsicles. I’ll have to try those when H gets a little older and could hold one. Thanks for linking up and sharing all his delicious, healthy foods!
