I have fallen in love with these nutty little seeds. They are so incredibly healthy for you too!
Hemp seeds come from the plant Cannibus L. The hemp plant is not the same as the marijuana plant (Cannibus sativa L.). They are closely related –but not the same thing.
Why are hemp seeds so wonderful?
- Hemp is and AMAZING source of plant protein! They contain about 36.6% (complete) protein, making them the highest source of plant protein out there!
- It’s the highest plant source of essential fatty acids. Hemp Seed is a direct source of GLA (Gamma-linolenic acid/ Omega-6 fatty acid), Sterodonic Acid and Chlorophyll (flax seed lacks all 3 of these)
- Hemp contains all 20 amino acids, including the 9 essential amino acids that our bodies can not produce
- Hemp is one of the most nutritionally complete food sources in the world!
I find them at Whole Foods but with their fast growing popularity they are becoming easier to find at your local grocery store. I found them the other day at Raleys 🙂
There’s so much more you can do with these amazing little balls of goodness! Here’s a few more ides 🙂
Give them a try! You’ll be glad you did 🙂
