Weekend Recap

So begins the crazy, busy month of June!  It’s amazing how fast our summer has filled up.  Every weekend through July we are booked and looking forward to lots of fun!

Friday, as I mentioned, I started the weekend off with a ladies night with my cousin and a good friend.  We headed to The Fountains in Roseville to the First Friday Street Fair.  It’s just a small event they have once a month with booths set up, live music and a few little side shows.  We cruised through there and then went to have dinner at one of my favorite sushi restaurants, Kaizen.

It was VERY hot out, so we started with a nice cool refreshing glass of sake.

Then since we were all starving, we ordered a sushi platter.

It was delicious!

After dinner we went to the Yardhouse for a drink then home to sit out on the patio and enjoy a glass of wine with the hubby.  We stayed up WAY past our normal bedtime and we were exhausted the next day so we postponed our long run until Sunday.

Since we had the morning to hang out, we headed off to the farmers market.

Where there were lots of fresh, colorful, veggies.

We tasted a few different, really yummy cashew cheeses and ended up buying the smoked cheddar.

The love nugget met some horses Great Danes that he thought were really cool!

And then tried to hug a little girl standing next to him.  Such a flirt!  In his defense, she looked a lot like his friend Kaylee.

After the market, we went back to the Fountains so the hubby could experience the train with the love nugget and to play on the playground a little.

I had a coupon from my last race for a free mini bundt cake from Nothing Bundt Cakes so we stopped by to pick one up.  We ended up getting two, since one was free and they were so cute!  I tasted their lemon flavor at a birthday party a few months ago so this time we decided to try red velvet and white chocolate raspberry.  Sounds pretty good to me!

Then home for a little rest before the love nugget’s Nani (the hubby’s mom), came down to stay with him for the night.  I had planned a couples bowling night for a little kid free fun.  Since Nani got there early, we took advantage and went to a bar for a drink before hand.  Can’t remember the last time we’ve done that!  It was nice to just hang out and relax over a nice cold beverage.

Then we headed to the bowling alley for a night full of fun!

I had printed out a card with a fun spin on traditional bowling from Dating Diva’s blog.

It turned out to be a lot of fun!

After the first game we took a little intermission to play a jump roping game that was so addicting!

It was one of those games that looked so simple but was so hard!

Then we played a regular game of bowling in the dark.

It was a super fun night and again we went to bed past our normal bedtime but much earlier than the night before.  I was thankful for this today when we took off for a 7 mile run 🙂

After our run, we took the love nugget and Nani to my favorite brunch restaurant in Roseville, La Provence.  I had an egg white frittata which was just what I needed after a long run.

We are all pretty wiped out around here now so I’m thinking tonight will be very mellow and hopefully relaxing.  Barbecuing beef burgers for the hubby and black bean burgers for me!

Hope everyone had a great weekend!
