We have sunshine! Woo hoo! Yesterday was a very stormy day which really put a damper on our plans. We are trying to finish up our yard and are all ready to plant in our planters. So we drove out to a nursery to pick out our plants early yesterday morning. We beat the rain but the cold wind was no fun 😦 So we didn’t last that long. The rain came pouring down as soon as we started driving home. We did get some cleaning done around the house and mapped out our plan of attack for our backyard which was good.
It’s been quite sometime since the hubby and I have been on a date with just the two of us. We went to a Kings game awhile back but it was with a group of people and while it was fun, we needed some alone time:-) We don’t really have much family that lives close by so finding someone to babysit is a task. Luckily, my wonderful cousin who is a college student at Sac State said she could come watch him for the evening! Woo hoo!
So we headed off on a much needed date night 🙂
We both read the Hunger Games series so we filled my purse with movie snacks and went to go watch that.
I know, I know, we shouldn’t sneak snacks into the movies. Neither of us like popcorn or soda and we didn’t feel like spending an arm and a leg for a water and candy.
We were driving into the storm on our way there and drove under a really pretty rainbow.
Kind of difficult to get a good picture while driving but we didn’t want to be late!
After the 2 1/2 hour movie, we went to dinner at our favorite local French restaurant. I had a roasted beet salad and pan seared salmon on a bed of arugula, fennel, red quinoa and sweet potatoes topped with a blood orange sauce. Yummy! The hubby had a goat cheese salad and a filet with grilled asparagus.
It was sooo nice to get out and have some adult time 🙂
This morning the hubby took off to go snowboarding and the love nugget and I are having some friends over for brunch. Then getting things ready for the week for the hubby’s lunch and hopefully a workout at some point. I’m trying out a few new recipes so depending on how they turn out I’ll post later! I did try out a new green smoothie recipe that turned out to be pretty good. I’m still not too sure about the Ninja. It works good but doesn’t completely blend everything so there seem to be more chunks of greens. But… it’s better than nothing!
Pina Colada Green Smoothie
1/2 frozen banana
1/2 cup frozen diced pineapple
1 scoop protein powder
1/4 cup unsweetened shredded coconut
1 tbsp flaxseed
1 handful spinach
1 cup of no sugar added light coconut milk
Blend until smooth then enjoy! I think the next time I make this I will add in a few chunks of ice.
Have a great Sunday!
